During the meeting, Zhang Jinxiong extended a warm welcome to Director Xiao's delegation and introduced the general situation of Indonesia. He said that India and China have been friendly neighbors across the sea since ancient times. At present, the two countries' cooperation in economic, trade, cultural exchanges, and personnel exchanges has become closer. In 2018, the total trade volume between the two countries reached 77.4 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 22.2%, the fastest growth among the 10 ASEAN countries.
Zhang Jinxiong hopes that the delegation's current visit will further promote the establishment and maintenance of good communication and cooperation between the two sides. We also welcome the Dalian City Government and Dalian entrepreneurs to come to Indonesia for more sightseeing and inspections. Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will play the role of bridge to provide necessary services for Dalian entrepreneurs to invest in Indonesia.
Director Xiao Shengfeng delivered a speech and thanked the leaders of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association for their hospitality. He said that the six-member delegation visited Indonesia in order to promote exchanges and cooperation between Dalian and Indonesia in the fields of tourism, economy, trade, culture and education, enhance friendship and create business opportunities for enterprises on both sides.
Xiao Shengfeng also introduced the latest development of Dalian in recent years. He said that Dalian is located at the southern end of the Liaodong Peninsula, facing the Yellow Sea in the east and the Bohai Sea in the west, and facing the Shandong Peninsula across the sea in the south. It is in an important area of the Northeast Asian Economic Zone and the Bohai Bay Economic Circle. Dalian has become a major estuary in Northeast China. Dalian is an important industrial base in China with a complete range of industries, including equipment manufacturing, shipbuilding, and electronic information industries.
Dalian began reform and opening up in the 1980s and is now the economic and trade center of northeast China. Since President Xi Jinping proposed the “Belt and Road” economic strategy, the policy of opening up and innovation has reached 500 million yuan per year. At present, Dalian is promoting the establishment of a friendly sister city relationship with Jakarta, Indonesia.
