(Jakarta) A delegation of entrepreneurs led by Xu Xianfeng, Director of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Department of the International Cooperation Center for Material Circulation, and Han Junke, Director of the Foreign Service Department, visited Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, and was welcomed by Chairman Zhang Jinxiong, Supervisory Committee Member Chen Boyan, Vice Chairman Xue Tianzeng, Jiang Miaocheng, Secretary-General Zhou Weiliang, Vice Chairman Lin Songshi, and Deputy Secretary-General Chen Yongzhi. The two sides exchanged personnel projects and strengthened cooperation.
Chairman Zhang Jinxiong said that first of all, on behalf of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, I would like to extend a warm welcome and sincere greetings to all the guests for their visit!
Zhang Jinxiong said that as the largest economy in Southeast Asia and the fourth most populous country in the world, Indonesia currently has a total population of about 281 million, of which more than half are young people under the age of 30, with a superior demographic dividend. Last year, Indonesia's GDP was approximately US$1.4 trillion, with a per capita GDP of nearly US$5,000. Its economic growth rate has remained above 5% for many years, making it one of the most promising emerging markets in the world.
Indonesia has abundant natural resources and is the world's largest producer of nickel and palm oil. Its reserves of coal, oil, and natural gas are among the highest in the world. In recent years, the government has focused on developing five major industries: food and beverage, automobiles, electronics, chemicals, and digital economy, and has released huge demand in infrastructure construction, new energy development, and agricultural modernization, which is highly consistent with the industries of all the entrepreneurs present.
Today, with the trend of superimposed tariff barriers and accelerated supply chain restructuring, Indonesia's locational advantages are more prominent. Key mineral resources such as nickel ore support the development of the new energy industry chain. The huge population base provides abundant labor and consumer markets. Indonesia's labor costs are significantly superior to those of China. As an important part of the diversification of the global supply chain, the Indonesian government is actively attracting foreign investment, optimizing the business environment, and striving to become an important hub for global manufacturing and trade.
Zhang Jinxiong pointed out that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China. The relationship between the two countries is at its best in history. China has been Indonesia's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years and has been among the top three sources of investment in Indonesia for 9 consecutive years.
Last year, the total bilateral trade between the two countries reached 147.8 billion US dollars, mainland China's investment in Indonesia reached 8.1 billion US dollars, and Hong Kong's investment reached 8.2 billion US dollars, covering key areas such as new energy, digital economy, and infrastructure. These cooperations not only created jobs and growth for the two countries, but also played an important role in the coordination of regional industrial chains.
Zhang Jinxiong further stated that on behalf of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, I sincerely welcome all entrepreneurs to invest and build factories in Indonesia and jointly explore the vast market in Southeast Asia. Indonesia not only has abundant labor and resources, but also has regional trade advantages, using Indonesia as a springboard to radiate the world to the ASEAN market.
Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will continue to give full play to the platform advantages of the Chamber of Commerce and provide necessary support and assistance for everyone's cooperation. Finally, I wish the delegation a successful and fruitful inspection in Indonesia.
Director Xu Xianfeng pointed out that first of all, I would like to thank the leaders of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association for their warm hospitality. The delegation's visit to Indonesia was mainly to investigate and expand the market. It is hoped that more and more companies will invest in Indonesia in the future, and through this exchange with Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, it will make greater contributions to the development of the two places in the fields of economy, trade, logistics, etc. After the exchange, the two sides exchanged souvenirs and took photos.
