(Jakarta) On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 4:30 PM, a delegation from Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, including Vice Presidents Xue Tianzeng and Chen Xin, Secretary-General Zhou Weiliang, Vice Presidents Chen Hongping and Lin Songshi, and Deputy Secretary-General Yang Xinsheng, welcomed a delegation from the Chongqing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, including Deputy Director Han Liesong, Director Bai Bo of the Chongqing Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, and Head of the Mining Geology Department of the Chongqing Geological Survey Institute, Chen Li. The delegation exchanged information on cooperation projects in mineral resource exploration and development between Chongqing and Indonesia.
Vice President Xue Tianzeng stated that as the largest economy in ASEAN, Indonesia's GDP growth rate has consistently remained above 5%, and its total economic output last year was approximately US$1.4 trillion, accounting for 40% of the entire ASEAN economy. Indonesia is also playing a greater and more active role in maintaining regional and global economic stability.
Indonesia has consistently valued its friendly cooperation with China. China has been Indonesia's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years and has ranked among the top three sources of foreign investment in Indonesia for 9 consecutive years.
Xue Tianzeng stated that bilateral trade between the two countries reached US$147.8 billion in 2024. Indonesia's exports to China are mainly commodities such as minerals, palm oil, and rubber, while imports from China are primarily manufactured goods such as machinery and electronics. The trade structure between the two countries demonstrates economic complementarity and enormous cooperation potential. With Indonesia's deepening "downstream" policy, it needs China's advanced technology, equipment, and capital, while China's leading new energy and high-end manufacturing industries need Indonesia's vast overseas markets and stable, high-quality mineral resources. This natural complementarity makes cooperation between the two countries in the field of mineral resource exploration and development extremely promising.
Chongqing, as a major economic center in western China, possesses significant advantages in manufacturing, technological innovation, and logistics, which highly align with Indonesia's vigorous development in mineral processing and the electric vehicle industry chain. Furthermore, Chongqing's unique urban landscape, cuisine, and culture have made it one of the most popular Chinese tourist destinations for Indonesians, laying a solid foundation for deepening cultural exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding between our two regions.
Xue Tianzeng said that in mid-July this year, he was honored to be invited to attend the first "Belt and Road" Overseas Chinese Cooperation and Development Conference, jointly hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Chongqing Municipal Government, and the Sichuan Provincial Government. He expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful hospitality of the organizers and the privilege of attending the meeting presided over by Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, and Hu Henghua, Mayor of Chongqing, to jointly explore the positive role that overseas Chinese can play in Chongqing's development.
Xue Tianzeng pointed out that looking to the future, we are full of confidence and expectations for cooperation between Chongqing and Indonesia. Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will continue to leverage its platform advantages to provide necessary support and assistance for exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. Finally, he wished Director Han and everyone else a successful and fruitful trip to Indonesia.
Deputy Director Han Liesong first expressed his gratitude to the entrepreneurs of the Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association for their warm reception. He then briefly introduced Chongqing, noting that it covers an area of approximately 82,400 square kilometers and has a population of about 32 million, making it China's largest municipality in terms of both area and population. He also highlighted Chongqing's stable growth in trade, manufacturing, emerging industries, science and technology, mineral resources, and culture. He sincerely invited the entrepreneurs of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association to visit Chongqing, explore its potential, and conduct research, hoping that everyone could work together to promote economic and trade development in both regions.
