(Jakarta) A delegation led by Yan Weiqun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Beijing Federation of Industry and Commerce, including Shi Feng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the District Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wang Peng, Director of the Economic Services Department, and He Mingzhu, an official from the Liaison Department, visited Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association at noon on Saturday, November 1, 2025. They were welcomed by Secretary-General Zhou Weiliang, Vice Chairman Chen Xin, Vice Chairman Lin Songshi, and Yao Hanbin, Executive Chairman of the Youth Department, and other directors.

Secretary-General Zhou Weiliang pointed out that Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, re-established in 2001, is a nationwide, non-profit Chinese business association established in accordance with Indonesian laws and regulations. Adhering to the founding principle of "uniting Chinese businesses and promoting Indonesia's economic development," it actively recruits talented individuals to participate in Indonesia's economic construction. It has now become an important platform for uniting the strength of Indonesian Chinese businesses and promoting people-to-people cooperation between Indonesia and China.

Indonesia, the world's fourth most populous country with over 280 million people, is a young and vibrant market, with over 70% being young people. Indonesia is rich in natural resources, particularly minerals, with the world's largest nickel reserves, and leading reserves of gold, silver, copper, iron, and tin. Its agriculture, fisheries, and tourism resources are also excellent. It is the world's largest producer of palm oil and the world's second-largest producer of rubber and cocoa, providing a solid foundation for its economic development.

Zhou Weiliang pointed out that as Southeast Asia's largest economy, Indonesia's GDP last year totaled approximately US$1.4 trillion, accounting for 40% of ASEAN's total economy. Its economic growth rate has consistently remained above 5%, making a positive contribution to ASEAN's economic growth. In the second quarter of this year, Indonesia's economic growth rate reached 5.12%, demonstrating its continued positive economic development and showcasing the vitality and resilience of the Indonesian economy. Currently, Indonesia is vigorously promoting its "downstream" development strategy, aiming to increase the added value of key minerals such as nickel and copper. In response, we are actively opening our doors to foreign investment, significantly lowering foreign investment entry standards, and introducing a series of preferential policies to actively encourage foreign investment in Indonesia's economic development and achieve common development.

Zhou Weiliang stated that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and bilateral relations are at their best historical period. By 2024, bilateral trade between Indonesia and China is expected to reach nearly US$150 billion. China has been Indonesia's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years, and bilateral trade reached US$70.8 billion in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 15%, further demonstrating the broad prospects for cooperation between the two countries. Beijing, as China's capital, is a well-known international city with strong economic strength, a complete industrial system, and abundant scientific and technological resources and human resources. It has accumulated profound experience in capital, technology, and management.

Beijing has advanced technology and ample capital, while Indonesia has abundant resources and a vast market. This complementarity is the foundation and opportunity for our cooperation. We sincerely welcome friends from Beijing to visit Indonesia, experience its vibrant development, and write a new chapter in Sino-Indonesian economic and trade cooperation.

Zhou Weiliang stated that Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, as a non-governmental bridge promoting exchanges between the two countries, will continue to leverage its platform advantages to provide necessary support and assistance for those visiting Indonesia for inspection and investment, making positive contributions to the economic development and cultural exchanges of both countries and regions. He concluded by wishing everyone a successful and fruitful trip to Indonesia.

Yan Weiqun expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the leaders of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association. He first briefly introduced the Beijing Federation of Industry and Commerce and the latest developments in Beijing in the fields of economy, trade, finance, and culture. He explained that their visit to the Chamber aimed not only to promote exchanges and strengthen cooperation in various fields, but also to encourage more local enterprises to expand their business in Indonesia and make greater contributions to the economic and trade development of both sides. He also sincerely invited entrepreneurs from Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association to take some time to visit Beijing for sightseeing, inspection, and investment.
