Penang Medical and Education Seminar Successfully Held at Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Associatiaon
(Jakarta) Secretary General of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Associatiaon Zhou Weiliang said at 2pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, that he was very honored to welcome everyone to the "Penang Medical and Education Seminar" jointly organized by Bank of China Jakarta Branch, Bank of China Wealth Management and UnionPay. Thanks to all partners from Penang, including PMED & Study Penang, INTI International College, Malaysia Airlines, OPTIMAX Eye Specialist Hospital, Penang Methodist Hospital, STONYHURST International School, Sunway Medical Center and THERAPEDIC, etc. Your support and participation have added infinite brilliance to this event.

As close neighbors, Indonesia and Malaysia have deep historical roots and close economic and cultural ties. In particular, Penang, as an important Chinese settlement and economic and cultural center in Malaysia, has a long history of Chinese businessmen. The Chinese community in Penang not only plays a pivotal role in the local economic development, but also has accumulated rich experience and resources in education, medical care and other fields. After hundreds of years of accumulation, the Chinese in Penang have formed a unique and vibrant cultural tradition, which provides a valuable model of cooperation and learning for our Indonesian Chinese community.

Zhou Weiliang said that Indonesia, as the most populous country in Southeast Asia, has a population of more than 280 million, of which about 10 million are Chinese, with a long history and diverse culture. Indonesia's economy has maintained steady growth in recent years, and the government attaches great importance to the development of education and medical care, and strives to improve the quality of life of citizens. However, due to the large population base and vast territory, high-quality medical and educational resources still need to be further expanded and improved. For this reason, many Indonesian families choose to go to neighboring Penang for advanced medical services and high-quality international education resources.

Penang's medical institutions are advanced in technology, high-quality services, and a diverse and international education system, which can provide Indonesian Chinese families with a very competitive choice. We hope that through this event, more members will understand the advantages of Penang's medical and educational services. At the same time, we also welcome the opportunity for hospitals and universities in Penang to set up branches or campuses in Indonesia in the future to further deepen cooperation between the two sides and achieve resource sharing and mutual benefit and win-win results.

Zhou Weiliang pointed out that he sincerely wished this briefing a complete success and looked forward to working together to create a broader prospect of cooperation between Indonesia and Penang in the fields of medical care and education.

Then, Dr. Mary Ann of PMED & STUDY in Penang, Melissa of INTI International College in Penang, Harry of Malaysia Airlines, Lin Shu Ni of OPTIMAX Eye Hospital, Arga of Penang Methodist Hospital, Ng Sin Yee and Melissa of STONYHURST International School, Abbey of SUNWAY Medical Center, Liu Yue, Assistant President of Bank of China Jakarta Branch, and William Fang of Union Pay introduced their business projects respectively.
