Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Affairs Delegation Visits Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association
(Jakarta) Jiang Fan, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipal Government, Wei Fulian, Full-time Deputy Chairman of Guangzhou Municipal Committee, Wu Qinger, Dean of Overseas Chinese College of Guangzhou Open University, and Huang Beiliang, Director of Guangzhou Overseas Friendship Association, visited Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association at 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2024, and were welcomed by Vice Chairman Jiang Miaocheng, Secretary-General Zhou Weiliang, Supervisory Committee Member Chen Boyan, Vice Chairman Chen Hongping, Ji Guozhang, Lin Songshi, and Deputy Secretary-General Yang Xinsheng.

Chen Hongping said that the Nationality Law and Anti-Discrimination Law promulgated by the Indonesian government in 2006 and 2008 successively confirmed and protected the legitimate rights and interests of the Chinese from a legal perspective, and affirmed the important role of the Chinese in the economic and social development of Indonesia. Today, the Chinese in Indonesia are not only an important bridge for people-to-people exchanges between India and China, but also an important driving force for economic and trade exchanges and win-win cooperation between the two countries.

Indonesia, as the largest economy in Southeast Asia and one of the most dynamic emerging markets in the world, has attracted more and more Chinese companies to come for inspection, investment and business development with its rich natural resources, huge consumer market and strategic geographical location. Last year, the total trade volume between the two countries reached 139.4 billion US dollars, and China has been Indonesia's largest trading partner for 11 consecutive years. In 2023, mainland China and Hong Kong's investment in Indonesia reached 7.4 billion and 6.5 billion US dollars respectively, making them the second and third largest sources of foreign investment in Indonesia. These investments not only promote Indonesia's economic development and drive local employment in Indonesia, but also provide Chinese companies with a broad overseas market and opportunities.

As a bridge and link serving the vast number of Chinese businessmen, Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will continue to be committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation between enterprises of the two countries and building more win-win platforms. We also look forward to bringing new opportunities for cooperation between Guangzhou and Indonesia through today's exchanges with the Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, and promoting economic construction and cultural exchanges between our two places. Together, we will contribute to the friendship between India and China. Finally, I wish the delegation a successful and fruitful trip to Indonesia.

Jiang Fan pointed out that Indonesia is the second stop of our delegation's visit, and this visit has several main tasks. The first task is to understand the situation of overseas Chinese education. The second task is to understand the investment environment in Indonesia and Malaysia under the "Belt and Road Initiative", as well as the development of Chinese enterprises in foreign countries, including potential investment projects and development space. The third task is to understand Indonesia's international education, bilingual schools, or the dissemination of some traditional Chinese culture and some skills training work, and whether there are cooperation opportunities in Indonesia.

Jiang Fan said that we believe that Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association also actively participates in and supports some activities of the governments of various regions in China, because Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association is a symbol of the strength of local Chinese businessmen and a group that has made great contributions to the economic exchanges between China and Indonesia. Moreover, it has not forgotten its roots and has also participated in many investment and fundraising work. Finally, we sincerely invite everyone to take time to visit Guangzhou, sightsee, investigate, and invest in business.
